The trail system consists primarily of singletrack paths, rated as easy to intermediate difficulty. Hikers and mountain bikers share these trails, which wind through diverse terrain including wooded areas and open fields. One of the most distinctive features of these trails is the presence of "space junk" and repurposed aerospace artifacts scattered throughout, creating an intriguing juxtaposition of nature and technology.

Visitors can expect to encounter old aircraft cockpits, space-themed yard art, and other remnants of the aerospace industry along their journey. The Space and Rocket Center Trails are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, subject to trail conditions. They are easily accessible, with parking available near the Aviation Pond. These trails were originally developed for use in cycling events, including the Alabama National Interscholastic Cycling Association races.
