About FishBridge Park Garden
From Parking Lot to Urban Paradise
Found in the South Street Seaport area of Lower Manhattan, FishBridge Park Garden reflects strong community dedication. What once was just another parking lot (and let's be honest, a garbage dump) has blossomed into a lush green retreat that gives locals a much-needed breather from the concrete jungle.
Back in the 1980s, neighborhood residents rolled up their sleeves and got to work transforming this neglected space. In March 1996, FishBridge became one of the first two GreenThumb gardens to earn permanent status as an official New York City Park. Today, the South-Water-Front Neighborhood Association manages this little slice of green, with about 50 dedicated volunteers keeping things beautiful year-round.

What You'll Find Inside
Wander through the garden and you'll spot colorful roses, delicate cosmos, and climbing morning glories adding splashes of color throughout. It's the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think - a rare commodity in New York City.
The garden really comes alive during the warmer months. From spring through fall, you'll discover everything from kids' play dates to birthday celebrations and community get-togethers happening here. It's become the neighborhood's outdoor living room, in the best possible way.
