About ParkMagnet

Our Story

ParkMagnet grew from conversations with neighbors about our local parks - which ones had working water fountains, where to find shade in August, and that one playground with the really good swings.

We realized that while cities put tremendous effort into creating these green spaces, finding detailed information about them often meant piecing together fragments from various sources. So we decided to build something better.

What We Do

We document urban parks across major US cities with an emphasis on the practical details that matter when you're planning a visit:

  • Sports facilities
  • Playground equipment
  • Water features
  • Restroom availability
  • Parking
  • Shade coverage
  • And much, much more

Our information comes from direct visits, official city data, community input, and sometimes just spending an afternoon sitting on a bench enjoying the day.

Our Approach

Each park has its own character - some are meticulously landscaped showpieces, others are scrappy neighborhood lots where the basketball hoops might not have nets but the games are legendary.

We value these differences and try to capture both the facilities and the feeling of each space. Sometimes the most important thing about a park isn't on any official map - it might be the perfect afternoon light, or the fact that the ice cream truck always stops at 3pm on Saturdays.

Community Contributions

Know something we don't about a park? Found an error or have an update? We welcome your input. This project grows through community knowledge and shared experiences.

Reach out through our contact form to share information or corrections about any park in our database.

Looking Forward

We're continually adding more cities and parks to ParkMagnet. Our hope is to eventually cover every significant urban park in the US, from neighborhood green spaces to sprawling city parks.

Thanks for joining us on this journey through America's green spaces.
