Named after Rufus Napoleon Rhodes, the founder of what is now The Birmingham News, the park has a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. It was one of the first neighborhood parks to be restored in Birmingham, serving as a successful example of a public-private partnership between the city, public and private groups, and the neighborhood association.

Park Rules
As part of Birmingham's park system, Rhodes Park is open from 6AM to 10PM daily. The park does not allow glass containers or alcohol, ensuring a safe and family-friendly environment for all visitors.
