About the Location
River Gateway
Nestled along the water's edge, McNally Park is a gateway to Dog River and Mobile Bay. If you're into fishing or boating, this spot might just become your new favorite hangout.
There's a boat launch with two ramps - one facing Mobile Bay and another toward Perch Creek - making it convenient to get your vessel into the water. There are also two courtesy docks where you can comfortably load and unload your boat without the usual awkward balancing act.
Getting Active
Not a boat person? No problem. McNally Park offers lovely walking and bike trails where you can stretch your legs while soaking in those gorgeous bay views. There's something inherently calming about exercising with water in sight, isn't there?
The parking area fits about 15 vehicles with spots conveniently close to the park's features. The expansive open space creates a great backdrop for a leisurely stroll, bike ride, or just sitting quietly by the waterfront.
Picnic Paradise
When hunger strikes, head to the park's covered pavilion equipped with sturdy metal galvanized tables. It's great for anything from a solo lunch to a family gathering. You'll also find stone picnic tables near the fishing area and additional seating scattered under the shade of trees.
The pavilion area's location near parking with a nice turnaround means you won't have to lug your cooler and supplies across the entire park. Small conveniences like this can make all the difference on a hot Alabama day.
Nature's Neighbors
McNally Park shares its space with quite the cast of characters. Keep your eyes peeled for fish, alligators, manatees, seagulls, and pelicans going about their daily business in and around the water.
Many park-goers find themselves pausing to watch various ships passing by in the distance - a simple pleasure that somehow never gets old.
Good to Know
The park doesn't have permanent restrooms, but portable toilets are available when nature calls. And yes, your four-legged friends are welcome here - the park is dog-friendly with waste disposal stations throughout.
Note that you won't find playground equipment at McNally Park, so it's better suited for adults and older kids who can appreciate the natural setting and recreational offerings.
As part of Mobile's park system, McNally Park offers a tranquil escape from city life without having to venture far. It's not trying to be flashy or over-the-top - just a serene spot where the water meets the shore, waiting for you to discover its simple charms.
