Park Overview

Located in the northern corner of Glendale, Arizona, Foothills Park spreads across 29 acres off 57th Avenue and Union Hills Drive. This park offers various activities and facilities, making it popular with locals looking to enjoy some outdoor time.

One of the park's unique features is how it's naturally divided by Skunk Creek Linear Park, which adds a touch of wilderness to the urban landscape and connects to canal trails great for longer walks, runs, or bike rides when you're feeling ambitious.

Sports Facilities

If you're into team sports, you'll appreciate the three multipurpose fields where you can kick a soccer ball around, play some softball, toss a football, swing a baseball bat, or even try your hand at lacrosse. Whether you're joining an organized league or just having a casual game with friends, there's plenty of space to play.

The skate park is a notable feature. It has an extensive setup that includes fun boxes, grind rails, quarter pipes, half pipes, and two pools. The first pool features a challenging 6-foot drop with another 6-foot drop midway leading to a 12-foot vertical wall, while the second pool reaches about 8 feet deep and connects larger and smaller halfpipes through two separate sections. You can take a break in one of two shaded bench areas, and spectators can watch from two sets of bleachers.

As of spring 2023, the park has two dedicated pickleball courts with permanent lines and lights. These courts are well-maintained and available for play.

For something a bit different, check out the disc golf course that winds up and down the gully. The elevation changes add an interesting challenge that makes this course stand out from your typical flat disc golf experience.

Family Amenities

Kids will love the spacious playground area that's conveniently located near the bathrooms and parking lot. Parents will appreciate the shade structures that help keep the Arizona sun at bay while the little ones play.

When it's time for a meal or a snack, you'll find plenty of picnic tables and ramadas scattered within the park. These shaded spots come equipped with barbecue grills, and some even have electrical outlets - ideal for family gatherings or a weekend cookout with friends.

The well-maintained walking and biking trails provide smooth surfaces for your morning jog or evening stroll. What's especially nice is that these paths connect to the larger canal system, so you can extend your journey beyond the park boundaries if you're feeling particularly energetic.

You can find restroom facilities at various spots around the park. They're nothing fancy, but they're regularly maintained and do the job when nature calls during your park visit.

Overall, Foothills Park is well-kept and clean, with regular maintenance ensuring everything stays in good working order. The park welcomes visitors daily from 6AM to 10PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy all it has to offer.

Surrounding Facilities

The park is near other facilities. The Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center sits at the southeast corner, while the Foothills Branch library is located to the north. These facilities are all within walking distance of each other.

If you're into skateboarding, Cowtown Skate Shop is located next to the skate park, which can be useful for gear or repairs.
