Portales Park

Location and Overview

Located in Goodyear, Arizona, Portales Park is a charming 14-acre neighborhood green space that is the backyard playground for the Palm Valley master-planned community. This open stretch of land has become a go-to spot for locals looking to unwind or get active.

Park History

Portales Park emerged as part of the Palm Valley Phase VIII North development, creating a much-needed recreational haven in this desert community.

Recreational Facilities

Kids have plenty of room to burn off energy at the park's two separate playground areas. These thoughtfully designed spaces accommodate different age groups and abilities, so younger children can explore safely while older kids tackle more challenging equipment. It's a great spot for little ones to make friends while developing their motor skills.

If you're looking to maintain your fitness routine, the park's walking path comes with a bonus: nine workout stations positioned along the route. You can mix cardio and strength training as you make your way around - excellent for those days when you can't decide between a jog or hitting the gym.

Sports and Picnic Areas

The basketball court attracts everyone from casual shooters to organized teams looking for a place to practice their game. When you're ready to refuel or just relax, several ramadas scattered throughout the park offer welcome shade from the Arizona sun - ideal for family gatherings, birthday celebrations, or just enjoying a peaceful lunch outdoors.

One thing to note before heading out: parking can be a bit tricky here. As of 2019, local residents were asking the city to address limited parking options, so you might want to consider parking in surrounding areas if the lot is full. A little planning ahead can save you some frustration when arriving at this otherwise lovely community space.
