Washington Park

A Glimpse into History

Washington Park sits on ground that tells an important story of Mesa's past - it stands in what locals historically called North Town, a once-segregated neighborhood just north of downtown. Spanning a one-square-mile area, this isn't just any green space.

In recent years, the park has stepped into the spotlight for its historical significance. The powerful exhibition "The Matriarchs of Washington Park" celebrates the achievements of veterans of color who called this community home, offering a meaningful window into both local history and cultural heritage.
