Recreation for Everyone
Chaparral Park is a 100-acre public park located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Situated between Chaparral and McDonald Roads, the park offers a diverse range of recreational opportunities for visitors of all ages.
At the heart of the park lies a 10-acre lake, which serves as a focal point for many activities. The lake is stocked with fish and features a wheelchair-accessible fishing pier, making it a favored spot for anglers. Boating is also permitted on the lake.
Inclusive Play Areas
The park features an inclusive playground designed to be accessible to all users, including children with disabilities. This playground includes specialized equipment such as a Sensory Wave Climber, adaptive swings, and a Jam Box with adaptive switch technology.
The playground's unitary rubber surface allows for seamless navigation throughout the play areas. For our four-legged friends, Chaparral Park is home to a popular 3-acre dog park, providing a spacious area for dogs to play off-leash. The dog park includes grass, benches, play features, and water fountains for pets.
Sports and Fitness
For sports enthusiasts, the park offers six lighted baseball fields, two sand volleyball courts, two half-court basketball courts, and three soccer fields. A 10-station exercise course is available for those looking to maintain their fitness routines outdoors.
The park is part of the Scottsdale Greenbelt, a system of parks and paths that runs through the city, making it an excellent location for walking, jogging, and cycling.
Natural Beauty
Chaparral Park has been recognized as a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat, showcasing over 7,000 Arizona-friendly plants and 200 plant species.
The park also incorporates a xeriscape garden, which demonstrates water-efficient landscaping practices and serves as an educational resource for sustainable gardening in arid climates.
