About the Location

History and Significance

Freedom Park is a 39.1-acre community park located at 5000 E. 29th Street in Tucson, Arizona. Established in 1976, the park was dedicated to commemorate the Bicentennial Year and serves as a reminder of the nation's core values of freedom and liberty.

The idea to name it Freedom Park was initiated by students from nearby Myers Elementary School.

Aquatic Facilities

A centerpiece of Freedom Park is its swimming pool, which measures 25 yards by 60 feet wide. The main pool's depth ranges from 2.5 feet at the steps to 10 feet in the deep area, making it suitable for various aquatic activities.

Adjacent to the main pool is a separate wading pool for younger children. The popular Freedom Park Splash Pad operates from April 1 to October 31, open daily from 8 am to sunset.

Sports and Recreation

Freedom Park boasts multiple sports fields and courts. These include several Little League baseball fields, a softball field, soccer fields, and basketball courts.

The park also features a playground area for children and horseshoe pits for those interested in more leisurely activities.

Fitness and Nature

For visitors looking to enjoy nature or engage in fitness activities, Freedom Park offers a multi-use path with fitness stations. This path allows for walking, jogging, or cycling while providing opportunities for strength training and exercise.
