Westwood Park

Location and Layout

Westwood Park sits at the northwest corner where Westdale Drive meets Brimhall Road in Bakersfield's Rosedale neighborhood, right next to Centennial Elementary School. The park spans 9.3 acres of green community space suitable for everything from active play to peaceful afternoon breaks.

Adding a nice touch of security, there's a fire station sitting right next door - always reassuring when you're out with family.

Recreational Facilities

If you're into sports, the park offers several options. The park features a softball diamond complete with backstop, a versatile multi-purpose field, and courts for basketball, volleyball, and tennis. If you're shooting hoops with friends or practicing your tennis serve, there's space for whatever game you're in the mood for.

Kids have their own dedicated play area that's kept clean and well-maintained, with equipment suitable for different age groups. Beyond the playground, there's also an open play area where little ones can run free or where you can set up impromptu games of frisbee or catch.

Picnic Areas

What's a park day without some good food? Westwood features both family picnic pads for smaller gatherings and a group picnic shelter when you're bringing the whole crew along.

One of the park's best features has to be its mature shade trees scattered within the grounds. These provide welcome relief from Bakersfield's famous heat, creating cool spots to relax with a book or chat with neighbors.

Amenities and Environment

The park maintains a clean, safe atmosphere that makes it welcoming for everyone from toddlers to seniors. Dog owners will appreciate that the park is dog-friendly, so your four-legged family members can enjoy some outdoor time too.

And yes, contrary to what you might have heard, Westwood Park does have restroom facilities - a must-have convenience for families planning to spend a few hours here. Whether you're organizing a community event or just need some fresh air, the thoughtful layout makes this versatile space work for all kinds of outings.
