About the Location
History and Development
Originally called the Acton Tot Lot, Charlie Dorr Mini Park was designed and developed with significant community involvement in 1972. The park's creation was a collaborative effort, with volunteers building and installing a shade arbor, while a private contractor completed the remaining construction.
In November 1973, it was officially named after the prior owner of the site. The park's design and community-driven development earned it recognition, receiving the 1975 Park Facility Citation from the California Parks and Recreation Society, District III, for neighborhood participation in design concepts and volunteer labor.
