About the Location

A Pocket Park with History

Established in 1983, this compact park spans 0.12 acres (approximately 5,230 square feet), serving as a neighborhood gathering spot in the Solano Avenue area. The creation of Solano-Peralta Park was a community effort, funded by monies from Measure Y (a bond passed in 1974 for park development) and contributions from the Solano-Peralta Group.

The park's final design was adopted by the Parks and Recreation Commission in November 1981, with construction completed in 1983 at a cost of approximately $7,000.

Family-Friendly Features

The park offers a blend of recreational and relaxation spaces for visitors. It features a fenced-in area specifically designed for toddlers, providing a safe environment for young children to play.

Within this enclosed space, families can find picnic tables, allowing for outdoor meals and social gatherings. One of the park's notable features is its sandbox, which provides an opportunity for creative play for children.

Community Space

The park also includes a small plaza area with benches, offering a place for visitors to sit and relax. This setup makes Solano-Peralta Park a convenient stop for shoppers and locals looking for a brief respite along Solano Avenue.

Solano-Peralta Park operates under the management of the City of Berkeley's Parks and Recreation department.
