About Lauderbach Park
A Fresh Start
Lauderbach Park, a cozy 3.9-acre green space nestled in Chula Vista, recently got a much-needed makeover. After being closed for over a year, the park made its grand comeback on July 12, 2023, and honestly, it was worth the wait.
The transformation didn't come cheap - it took a $1 million state parks grant and another $820,000 from Measure P (a local sales tax initiative) to make it happen. The funds appear to have been well spent on significant improvements. The park now has a clean, refreshed look that visitors seem to appreciate.
Play Your Heart Out
If you're into sports, you'll love what Lauderbach has to offer. The new basketball courts are a standout feature, and they cleverly double as pickleball courts too - just remember to bring your own net if pickleball's your game.
One of our favorite additions has to be the synthetic turf multi-purpose field complete with lighting for those evening games. The soccer field has become quite the hit with local families looking to burn some energy with their little ones.
Kid-Friendly Corner
For those with children, the park offers several options. The park features two tot lots where the little ones can climb, slide, and play to their hearts' content. The layout includes new sidewalks, improved landscaping, and picnic areas suitable for family lunches or casual get-togethers.
And yes, there are restroom facilities on-site - because let's be real, that's a must-have for any family outing. The space now serves families looking to spend time outdoors.
More Than A Park
What makes Lauderbach special goes beyond its physical features. Right next door, you'll come across a building leased by SBCS, an organization dedicated to supporting the local community. This partnership adds a community support dimension to the recreational space.
There's something sweetly nostalgic about Lauderbach Park - many locals remember running around here as kids themselves. Now, with its fresh new look, the park is ready to create memories for a whole new generation of families.
