Natural Retreat

A winding hiking trail meanders through South Lane Park's largely undeveloped 10.45 acres in El Cajon, California, leading you through peaceful pastures and rugged rocky hills that feel worlds away from city life. It's a quiet escape if you're after a leisurely nature walk or just hunting for an ideal picnic spot.

Visit during the right season and you might be treated to the gentle sounds of a small seasonal stream gurgling through the grounds - nature's own soundtrack to your outdoor adventure.

What You'll Find

Located in the Crest community, South Lane Park provides a breath of fresh air and a chance to reconnect with nature. While it maintains a wonderfully wild character, there are some basic amenities for day visitors.

Horse lovers will appreciate the two horse rings available for equestrian activities - a rare find in urban parks these days. Kids (and the young at heart) can enjoy scrambling over the park's rock formations, which function as natural climbing features.

Note that there are no bathroom facilities here, so plan accordingly. And don't forget to wear sturdy hiking shoes - your feet will thank you when navigating the trails.
