About Koehler Park
Recreational Facilities
Koehler Park spreads across 10 acres of public space, offering a little something for everyone. The park houses two playgrounds designed for different age groups, so both your toddler and your older kids can find their happy place. We appreciate that they keep both areas clean and well-maintained - the padded flooring under the equipment is a nice touch for those inevitable tumbles.
If you're into shooting hoops, you'll find two basketball courts conveniently located near the parking lot. They're properly marked with all the essential lines you'd expect - three-point, free-throw, and mid-court lines. Perfect for a casual game with friends or some solo practice.
The two tennis courts are nestled among trees, providing a bit of natural shade during your match. What's really convenient is that they come with lights for evening play, so you can still get your game in after work. Recently, they've added pickleball lines as well, which is a thoughtful update for those riding the pickleball wave.
Sports Fields
The park has about 4 acres of open grassy space that serves multiple purposes. There's a baseball field with simple bench "dugouts" - nothing fancy, but perfectly suitable for younger players learning the game.
The same area doubles as space for soccer games of various levels. Just note that there isn't much shade or seating around these fields, so you might want to bring your own chair and definitely don't forget the sunscreen on sunny days.
Beyond organized sports, this expansive green space works well for throwing a frisbee, spreading out a yoga mat, or simply taking a peaceful stroll. It's a versatile space that adapts to different activities.

Amenities and Access
Getting to and parking at Koehler is straightforward. The main lot near Beech and Walnut Avenues offers about 70 spots, including 6 reserved for handicapped parking. If that's full, you can usually find street parking along Gatwick Avenue.
If you're looking to get some steps in, the park features 0.64 miles of tree-lined sidewalks - not a marathon, but enough for a pleasant walk. We're particularly glad that they've installed bright lights throughout the park, making evening visits feel safe and extending the hours you can enjoy the space.
The public restrooms are generally clean and maintained regularly, however they do lock them up late at night. While they're cleaned often, it's smart to bring some hand sanitizer along, as the soap dispensers sometimes run empty.
Picnic Areas
Within the park, you'll discover various spots excellent for picnicking. Some tables come equipped with barbecue grills, and there's even a shade shelter for those extra sunny days. While most picnic tables sit under the open sky, the park is spacious enough that you can usually find a quiet corner to enjoy your meal in peace.
If you're planning a larger gathering, you might need to reserve the main picnic area in advance. Thankfully, numerous trees within the grounds provide natural shade, creating pleasant retreats where you can sit back and relax.
Pet-Friendly Environment
Four-legged family members are welcome at Koehler Park, making it a dog-friendly destination for your daily walks. You'll need to keep your pup supervised at all times, and of course, come prepared to clean up after them. It's all about keeping the park enjoyable for everyone who visits.
