About the Location
A Little Urban Oasis
Tucked away at the crossroads of 76th Street and South Gramercy Place sits Circle Park, a charming little green retreat in the heart of South Los Angeles. Part of Council District 8, this perfectly round park stands out in the neighborhood landscape, reminding us a bit of those iconic traffic circles you'd find in Washington, D.C.
Neighborhood Living Room
This park isn't just a patch of grass - it's where community happens. Locals drop by to catch their breath, stretch their legs, or simply chat with neighbors they might otherwise just wave to in passing. In a concrete-heavy cityscape, Circle Park offers that much-needed touch of nature that helps reset your day.
What You'll Find
As you might guess from the name, the park forms a fantastic circle with grassy areas throughout. You can find benches scattered about for when you need to sit and soak in some sunshine or just watch the world go by. There used to be a fountain at the center which added a nice focal point, but it's currently not working. Recently, they've added traffic pylons and better-marked exits around the circle - small changes that make a big difference for keeping pedestrians safe.
Things to Do
Don't let the compact size fool you - Circle Park packs in plenty of possibilities. The open lawns make for perfect picnic spots, with enough room to spread out a blanket and enjoy lunch outdoors. Many locals use the perimeter for their daily walking or jogging routines. It's also a nice spot for families, although keep in mind there's no dedicated playground equipment for the kids.
Bringing Your Four-Legged Friends
Dog owners will appreciate the mix of grassy areas and paved paths that make this a decent spot for walking your leashed pup. The open layout also means you have some space to work on basic commands if you're in training mode.
The Basics
The amenities here are simple but sufficient. You'll discover several benches around the park when you need to take a load off. Note that there are no public restrooms available, so plan accordingly before your visit.
