Originally established in the early 20th century, Vermont Square Park has been an integral part of the neighborhood for decades.
In December 2000, the park underwent a $20,000 refurbishment, which included repairing lights, trimming trees, grading sandboxes, and repainting gazebos. This renovation helped to maintain and improve the park's facilities for continued community use.

The park is located in the South Los Angeles region, opposite the Vermont Square branch library, a designated Historic-Cultural Monument.
Its layout includes open grassy areas as well as designated spaces for specific activities, allowing visitors to enjoy both passive and active recreation. The park provides a blend of natural and recreational spaces, catering to diverse community needs.

Vermont Square Community Garden
On April 19, 2002, the Vermont Square Community Garden was dedicated within the park, funded by an $80,000 grant from the S.Mark Taper Foundation.
This addition further enhanced the park's value to the community, providing opportunities for urban gardening and environmental education.
