California Oaks Sports Park

Sports Facilities

This 20-acre park offers a variety of playing surfaces for many different sports. You'll find baseball and softball fields (some with lights for evening games), soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and volleyball courts with surprisingly clean sand.

There's also a skate park for those who prefer wheels under their feet, but it's on the smaller side. Just a heads up - while the basketball courts are popular, some hoops might need a bit of TLC according to regular players.

Aquatics Update

If you're looking to take a dip, we've got some not-so-great news. As of August 2023, the city decided to permanently close the swimming pool due to mechanical and structural issues.

On the bright side, there are plans to build a brand new aquatics facility in the same spot. The project is currently on pause while funding gets sorted out. Many locals have mentioned how much they miss having the pool available - hopefully the replacement won't take too long.

Playground Areas

Kids have two distinct playground zones to explore here. One area caters to the little ones (ages 3-5), while the other is designed for older children (ages 5-12).

What's really thoughtful is that both playgrounds have shade coverings to keep the California sun at bay. You'll find all the classics: swings for different ages, slides, and standard playground equipment, all set on padded mats surrounded by sand for softer landings.

Recreational Amenities

Not everything at California Oaks is about organized sports. The park features well-kept grassy areas great for a casual frisbee toss or picnic. Speaking of picnics, you'll find plenty of tables, park benches, and BBQ spots scattered throughout.

The grounds are dotted with mature trees that provide welcome shade on hot days. There's also a covered shelter with picnic tables that's meant for family gatherings or just taking a breather.

Restroom Facilities

Yes, there are restrooms available, but cleanliness can be hit or miss depending on when you visit. During special events or maintenance periods, you might find portable toilets as your only option.

Community Events

The park really comes alive during special occasions. It hosts the city's annual founding day celebration, impressive fireworks display, car shows, and various sports tournaments. Its spacious grounds and ample parking make it an ideal spot for larger community gatherings.

California Oaks Sports Park is open daily from 7AM to 8PM, giving you plenty of time for both early morning workouts and evening recreation sessions.
