Joseph Balderrama Park, located in Oceanside, California, is a 3-acre community park that serves as a vital recreational space for the Eastside neighborhood. Originally named for its location, the park was renamed in 1967 to honor Joe Balderrama, a World War II soldier from Oceanside who was killed in Germany in 1944.
The park features a 12,000-square-foot recreation center designed to meet the needs of the local community. This facility includes an auditorium with a stage and kitchen, a game/activities room, four multi-purpose/meeting rooms, and two courtyards. The recreation center hosts a variety of activities and special events, attracting approximately 100,000 annual participants.
Joseph Balderrama Park offers a range of outdoor amenities for visitors of all ages. The park includes play equipment for children, sports facilities such as basketball and tennis courts, and a multipurpose field. For those seeking relaxation, there are picnic areas with barbecue facilities.
