About the Location

A Spacious Retreat

Positioned on Fiddyment Road, Denio Family Park spreads across a generous 96 acres of Roseville landscape. This newcomer to the city's park scene - officially opened in early 2025 after breaking ground in August 2023 - offers a thoughtful blend of 48 acres of preserved open space, 28 acres of developed recreational areas, and 20 acres still awaiting their future purpose.

This green space serves both active sports enthusiasts and those simply looking to reconnect with nature for a while.

Disc Golf Course

A highlight of Denio is Roseville's first disc golf course, where 18 holes wind their way among native oaks. The course has developed a following with a design that offers options for various skill levels.

With a mix of par 3, 4, and 5 holes, you can find challenges whether you're just figuring out your throwing technique or you've been flinging discs for years. The island hole adds that extra bit of excitement (or frustration, depending on your skill level!). A nice touch is how the baskets rotate between A and B positions on every hole, so even if you're a regular, the course feels fresh with each visit.

Dog-Friendly Spaces

If you're a dog parent, you'll appreciate the generously sized fenced areas where your furry friend can run free. The thoughtful separation between large and small breed sections means everyone can play comfortably at their own pace.

The designers didn't forget the practical details either - water stations are available to keep pets hydrated, and there are plenty of waste disposal options to help keep the area clean. The bark ground covering seems to be a hit with most four-legged visitors.

Natural Beauty

Around the park, rolling meadows shift between vibrant green and golden hues depending on the season, creating a picturesque backdrop for your outdoor activities. The scattered oak trees don't just add charm - they're home to a surprisingly large community of turkeys that often make appearances during quieter hours.

Keep your eyes peeled and you might spot rabbits and other small wildlife going about their day in the wooded sections. There's something wonderfully calming about sharing space with these creatures while enjoying your own activities.

Amenities and Facilities

Getting to Denio is hassle-free thanks to the paved off-street parking areas. For those planning longer visits or small gatherings, the covered group picnic area provides welcome shade and a place to regroup.

The park features clean, modern restroom facilities - always a practical necessity for family outings. Walking paths weave throughout the property, inviting exploration of the different areas, however some trails are still establishing themselves as the park settles into its identity.

Community Spirit

There's a sign featuring words of encouragement from the Denio Family, with a message about kindness and togetherness.

Small communities have formed here - especially among the disc golf players. The park's layout accommodates different activities simultaneously, allowing various groups to enjoy their space.

Playground Area

Families with young children will appreciate the newer playground addition. While not the most elaborate play structure in town, this modern play space gives the little ones something to enjoy while older family members might be tackling the disc golf course or walking the trails.

Future Developments

While the first phase is complete and ready to enjoy, there's more to look forward to at Denio. Plans include bike trails and better connections to surrounding neighborhoods, but exactly when these will materialize hasn't been announced.

As the park evolves, there's talk of adding more trash cans throughout the disc golf course and establishing a permanent lost and found station - small but meaningful improvements based on what people actually need when using the space.
