Overview

Nestled at the corner of Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Woodcreek Oaks Boulevard in Roseville, Mahany Park stretches across 92 acres of land. This sprawling community space offers recreation, nature, and community activities throughout the year.

The park welcomes early birds at sunrise and accommodates evening visitors until an hour after sunset, giving you plenty of time to enjoy everything it has to offer.

For the Sports Lovers

If you're into sports, you'll find two lighted softball fields and a four-field lighted baseball complex. Baseball enthusiasts will appreciate the thoughtful layout: three fields designed for youth games and one 90' diamond that works for both youth and adult play.

Behind the Roseville Aquatics Complex, you'll discover tennis courts ready for your next match. And yes, they've jumped on the pickleball bandwagon too, with dedicated courts for this increasingly popular sport.

The athletic facilities are well-maintained, with ample parking available for visitors, local leagues and tournaments.

More Than a Park

The Mahany Fitness Center (which you might remember as the Roseville Sports Center) offers everything you need for a good workout: cardio equipment, weights, group classes, and a full-size gym.

Need a quiet moment? The Martha Riley Community Library provides peaceful study spaces and a welcoming children's area. It regularly hosts community events too, making it easy to combine playground time with some literary exploration.

And let's not forget the Roseville Aquatics Complex with its indoor and outdoor pools - fantastic for cooling off during those hot California days.

Project Play stands out as a truly special feature - it's a universally accessible playground designed so everyone can join in the fun, regardless of ability. The playground is thoughtfully divided: a gated toddler area for the 2-5 crowd, and a larger structure for the older kids.

The toddler section features kid-friendly low structures, a sand pit for creative play, and practical additions like shade canopies and misters for those scorching summer days. Safety comes first with rubber ground covering, and while visitors can find benches inside the gated area, picnic tables wait just outside.

For older children, larger play structures and swings sit adjacent to the toddler area - a smart design that helps parents keep an eye on siblings of different ages. One note: both playground areas could use more shade during summer months, so morning or evening visits might be more comfortable.

What makes Mahany Park special is its commitment to preserving nature. Significant portions are dedicated open space preserves, protecting sensitive habitats like wetlands, vernal pools, and seasonal streams. These areas provide sanctuary for local flora and fauna.

Nature trails meander throughout the park, inviting you to take a peaceful walk among mature oak trees and seasonal wildflowers. The trails work equally well for walking or biking, with one path extending all the way to the aquatic center.

Roseville officials have been exploring the possibility of adding a paved multi-use trail within this natural space to connect with other trails in the area.

The park comes alive with regular community events that draw people from all around. Sunday mornings bring a vibrant Farmers Market featuring local produce, art, music, and food vendors.

Summer brings special treats like the Summer Big Trucks series on Thursdays - an event that never fails to delight the younger crowd.

The Utility Exploration Center offers hands-on educational experiences where kids can learn about important environmental topics like water conservation and waste management in a fun, engaging way.
