About the Location
A Peaceful Escape in the Suburbs
Located in the Crocker Ranch area of west Roseville, Veterans Memorial Park North spreads across 12.5 acres of suburban tranquility. It's not just a place to play and unwind - it also pays tribute to our military heroes, balancing recreation with remembrance in a way that feels just right.
The park is cleverly split into two distinct sections joined by a short trail bridge. What strikes us most about this place is the calm atmosphere - it's clean, quiet, and offers that breath of fresh air we all sometimes need.
Miles of Trails to Explore
If you love a good walk, jog, or bike ride, you're in luck. The park has walking and bike paths that connect to other community parks throughout west Roseville.
You can access the Pleasant Grove Creek Trail from here, where herons often make appearances along the natural creek - a little wildlife surprise in the midst of suburbia. The paths extend all the way to Fiddyment Ranch, giving you several options for longer walks or rides.
Play and Exercise Options
The park offers a variety of recreational facilities. There are well-maintained soccer fields complete with a track around the edge - excellent for those morning laps. There are two different playgrounds with structures that cater to various age groups. Got toddlers under 5? The smaller playground is especially suited for them.
Fitness enthusiasts can take advantage of the chin-up bars to mix some strength training into their park routine. And let's not forget the generous open fields - ideal for a spontaneous game of catch, a picnic blanket, or just sprawling out on the grass with a good book.
Nature's Seasonal Show
Come spring, the park puts on quite a display with California poppies dotting the landscape in vibrant orange. It's one of those simple joys that makes you appreciate living in California.
In fall, the majestic Blue oaks cast ever-growing shadows across the grounds, adding character to an already picturesque setting. Throughout the day, the open spaces shift in color and mood - it's subtle but beautiful in that understated, bucolic way.
Wildlife Watching
Depending on when you visit, you might share the park with some local residents. Ground squirrels scamper about during summer months, while turkeys make their presence known in the fall, often strutting around like they own the place (and maybe they do).
The park's vernal pool preserve adds ecological significance and creates a unique habitat for local plants and animals. The nearby creek area offers additional opportunities to connect with nature and maybe spot some wildlife.
Practical Amenities
Need a spot for lunch? Several picnic tables are scattered throughout shaded grassy areas. When nature calls, you'll come across clean restrooms with all the essentials - flushing toilets, paper towels, and soap - though note they're only located on one side of the park.
The park is easily accessible, however we'd recommend arriving early on weekends as parking can fill up. Dog owners, rejoice - this is a dog-friendly space well-suited for walking your four-legged friends. You can enjoy the park from sunrise until one hour after sunset, giving you plenty of time to soak it all in.
Honoring Veterans
True to its name, the park features commemorative trees and bricks honoring those who have served in the military. It's a thoughtful touch that adds depth and meaning to your visit beyond the recreational aspects.
