About the Location
Riverside Escape
Stretching along the Sacramento River, Miller Regional Park spans a generous 40.25 acres of public green space in Sacramento, California. This waterfront park connects land and water recreation, with options for both landlubbers and water enthusiasts alike.
The sprawling grounds provide plenty of room to spread out a picnic blanket, get your jog on, or simply lounge in the grass with a good book. There's something magical about being riverside - the views are naturally calming, and the water creates a natural cooling effect that's absolutely heavenly during Sacramento's toasty summer days.
Marina and Boating Access
If you want to get out on the water, Miller Park offers a marina, boat ramp, and dock facilities, providing access to the Sacramento River.
The boat launch ramp makes getting your vessel into the water relatively straightforward, and there's dedicated boat trailer parking available too. Just a heads up - the ramp empties at a 90-degree angle into the flowing river, which can be a bit tricky to navigate. Sometimes the ramp ends in sand, so you might need a four-wheel drive vehicle depending on conditions. Nothing quite like a little adventure before your adventure, right?

Fishing and Wildlife Watching
Grab your fishing gear - this park is a prime spot for dropping a line. The shoreline access makes it easy to try your luck at catching striped bass or shad when they're running. If you're a dedicated angler or just curious to try, the riverfront setting creates a peaceful backdrop for fishing.
The park doubles as a mini wildlife sanctuary, particularly for birds. You'll likely spot geese and ducks paddling about, and if you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the occasional peacock strutting around. Bringing binoculars isn't a bad idea if you're into bird watching - there's something soothing about taking a moment to observe nature doing its thing by the water.
Visitor Amenities
When hunger strikes, you'll appreciate the picnic areas complete with tables and barbecues scattered within the park. Some spots offer welcome shade from the trees - a real blessing on sunny days.
Dog parents, rejoice! The park is dog-friendly, but your furry friends need to stay leashed. The expansive grassy areas give plenty of space for your four-legged companions to sniff and explore while you take in the scenery. Public restrooms are available during park hours, although their condition can vary - as is often the case with park facilities.
Entry Fees
Just so you know, there is an entrance fee to enjoy this riverside retreat. At last check, a daily pass runs $8, while committed park-goers might prefer the $80 annual pass. If you're on a tighter budget, there's a discounted annual pass available for $40 for those who qualify based on income.
