Littlefield Shultis Community Park
About Littlefield Shultis Community Park
Park Overview
Tucked away at the corner of Buckboard and Kendall Drive in San Bernardino, Littlefield Shultis Community Park spreads across a generous 15 acres of green space. This local park provides a quiet space away from the city's activity. The grounds are typically well-kept and clean, making it a pleasant spot to unwind or play for both locals and visitors passing through.
Amenities and Features
Feel like stretching your legs? The park features a 0.35-mile walking track that loops around the entire area - meant for your morning jog or an evening stroll. If you're looking to add some intensity to your workout, you'll come across outdoor exercise equipment stationed along the path, ready whenever you are.
There are two separate playground areas designed with different age groups in mind. The little ones can toddle around in the area made just for toddlers, while the 6-12 year olds can climb, swing, and slide in their own space. While not massive (they can handle about 10 kids at a time), these playgrounds offer the classic favorites: swings, slides, and monkey bars.
When it's time for a bite to eat, take your pick from multiple picnic areas within the park. The two picnic shelters provide welcome shade on sunny California days and house several tables, making them ideal spots for family gatherings or casual meetups.
Recreational Opportunities
The park has several open grassy areas where you can toss a frisbee, kick a soccer ball, or simply sprawl out with a good book. Just watch your step - the local squirrels have created the occasional hole here and there.
Basketball enthusiasts will appreciate the basketball court where you can shoot some hoops or jump into a pickup game.
Dog owners often make this park part of their walking routine, as four-legged friends are welcome here. And for the bookworms among us, there's even a little free library box where you can swap out your latest read for something new.
Visitor Facilities
Need a breather? Settle down on one of the 15 park benches scattered around the grounds. Planning a cookout? Fire up one of the barbecue grills (including some larger ones for bigger gatherings) for an outdoor feast.
Restrooms are available on-site, but it's worth noting they're sometimes locked, particularly during weekdays. You'll have better luck finding them open on weekends or during scheduled events.
Park Regulations
As with any public space, the park operates under rules established by the City of San Bernardino Municipal Code to keep things safe and enjoyable for everyone.
If you're planning a large get-together with more than 25 people, you'll need to secure a permit from the Parks and Recreation Department. The good news is that the park can be reserved for birthday celebrations and other special occasions, giving you access to dedicated areas with barbecue facilities and picnic tables.
