About the Location
Waterfront Gem
Nestled at the end of Orange Avenue in Coronado, Centennial Park might be small in size (just 1.2 acres), but it packs a serious punch when it comes to views. This well-situated park offers excellent views of San Diego Bay and the downtown skyline.
The park features well-maintained lawns where you can relax and enjoy the outdoors, along with a vibrant rose garden that adds a pleasant fragrance to the air.
A Walk Through Time
There's something special about standing in a place with real history. Before the Coronado Bridge existed, this spot served as the ferry landing connecting Coronado to San Diego. The historic ferry tollbooth still stands in the park today - a charming reminder of days gone by.
Established in 1986 to celebrate Coronado's 100th birthday (hence the name), the park maintains its connection to the water. The Coronado Ferry Landing nearby continues the tradition, offering a scenic and car-free way to hop between Coronado and downtown San Diego.

What To Do Here
If you're into photography, you're in for a treat. The park transforms during sunset when the city skyline glows in golden hour light - it's no wonder wedding parties frequently gather here for photos. After dark, the view becomes equally magical as downtown's lights twinkle across the water.
The small sandy beaches flanking the park offer a quieter alternative to Coronado's main beaches. They're well-suited for hunting seashells, dipping your toes in the bay, or just sitting back and watching the boats go by.

Getting Active
The Bayshore Bikeway runs right through the park, making it an ideal rest stop if you're cycling or walking the route. The waterfront pathways extend beyond the park boundaries, giving you plenty of room to stretch your legs while soaking in those panoramic views.
The open grassy areas make a nice picnic spot where you can enjoy your meal with bay views. Whether you're reading a book, watching for passing boats, or simply sitting quietly, the peaceful atmosphere here is quite refreshing.
Practical Information
You'll find several benches thoughtfully placed to maximize those incredible views. Public restrooms aren't in the park itself but are available within a short walk near the shopping center.
Fair warning: parking can be tricky, especially on busy weekends. Look for street parking along Orange Avenue or head to the free lot at First Street and D Avenue, just a quick stroll away. The park welcomes visitors daily from 6 AM until 11 PM.

Beyond the Park
One of the perks of Centennial Park is its location next to the Coronado Ferry Landing, where you'll find shops and restaurants to explore after your park visit. It's easy to make a day of it - enjoy the park, grab lunch, maybe do some shopping, then catch the ferry across the bay.
Dog lovers will be pleased to know the area is pet-friendly, with many four-legged visitors enjoying walks along the pathways. Just remember to bring bags to clean up after your furry friends.
Good to Know
While the park is public, there are some things to keep in mind. If you're planning an event with 25+ people (like a wedding ceremony), you'll need to secure a permit.
The park maintains its family-friendly atmosphere with a no-alcohol policy, in keeping with Coronado's rules for all parks and beaches. The area is notably clean and peaceful - Coronado's noise ordinance helps keep it that way, making it a true waterfront sanctuary in bustling San Diego.
