Esprit Park
About Esprit Park
A Green Oasis with a Corporate Past
Tucked into San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood lies Esprit Park, a 1.83-acre green refuge with an interesting backstory. Back in 1982, the Esprit de Corp clothing company created this space as a perk for their employees. When the company eventually closed up shop in San Francisco, they left behind a wonderful parting gift - this park for the city and its people to enjoy.
What You'll Find There
At the heart of Esprit Park is a sunny, well-maintained field encircled by a gravel path well-suited for walking or jogging. Majestic redwood trees stand guard around the perimeter, casting cool shadows and creating a peaceful atmosphere away from the urban bustle.
You'll spot picnic tables scattered within the grounds - you can even reserve these for your gatherings if you're planning something special. Over the years, this green space has become a neighborhood favorite for exercising, enjoying outdoor meals, walking dogs, or simply soaking up some nature.
The 2025 Refresh
As Dogpatch grew and evolved, so too did the need to update Esprit Park. A major renovation transformed the space to better accommodate the neighborhood's diverse community. The park now features two separate meadows divided by a concrete pathway running east to west.
The north meadow gives four-legged friends room to romp off-leash, while the south meadow offers a dog-free environment. This thoughtful design helps everyone enjoy the park in their own way - no matter if you're a dog enthusiast or looking for a quiet spot with the kids.
Freshened Up and Forward-Looking
The renovation brought several welcome additions: new plantings to enhance the greenery, updated exercise equipment positioned at the park's corners, and improved seating and fixtures throughout. Charming flower beds and walking promenades now add splashes of color and structure to the landscape.
Through all these changes, care was taken to create a more durable and sustainable space while preserving the natural character that makes Esprit Park special.
Good to Know Before You Go
Esprit Park welcomes visitors daily from 5AM until midnight. You'll find drinking water available, but it's worth noting there are no restroom facilities on site.
What makes this park particularly special in San Francisco is its thoughtfully divided design. The separation between dog play areas and family spaces means that both pet owners and parents with young children have their own dedicated areas to enjoy - the dog-free southern section provides an especially safe environment for babies and little ones to play and explore.
