Situated in a residential area, this cozy 3.7-acre neighborhood space has a bit of something for everyone. Sports fans can shoot some hoops at the half-sized basketball court - excellent for a casual game without needing a full team.

If you're bringing the kids along, you're in luck. The park features two thoughtfully designed playground areas: a gentler zone for the little ones (ages 2-5) and a more adventure-ready space for older children (ages 5-12). Both offer safe places for kids to burn off energy while you catch a breather.

Places to Relax and Gather

Planning an impromptu get-together? The picnic areas operate on a first-come, first-served basis - no reservations needed. There's a charming gazebo with tables that makes for an ideal spot to enjoy lunch or catch up with friends. If you're feeling a bit more ambitious with your outdoor dining, you'll appreciate the barbecue facilities available for use.

One of our favorite features has to be the pergola area with seating. This shaded spot offers a quiet retreat from the sun, ideal for reading a book or simply watching the world go by. It's a nice shaded area to escape the heat.

Bringing Your Four-Legged Friends

Your dogs are welcome to join you at Playa del Rey Park! Just remember to bring bags to clean up after them. Keeping this cute neighborhood spot clean ensures everyone can enjoy their time here.

Good to Know

Playa del Rey Park is maintained by the City of San José and sits within Council District 10. The park welcomes visitors daily from 6:30AM until 9PM.

Note that there are no restroom facilities here, so plan accordingly. There's also no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to find street parking nearby when visiting.
