Both pools are heated (thank goodness!) and come with practical amenities like locker rooms, showers, and storage for your belongings. If you're planning an event at the park, adding pool access can really make it special.

Outdoor Recreation

The park includes several outdoor recreation spaces. The turfgrass playing field is one of the largest in the district. Recently upgraded to full turf throughout, it's become a prime spot for soccer matches and other athletic pursuits.

If relaxed outdoor dining is more your style, you'll appreciate the multiple picnic areas complete with tables and BBQ pits. Some areas work on a first-come basis, while others can be reserved for larger gatherings. And yes, bounce houses are allowed when you reserve a picnic area - a detail the kids will definitely appreciate.

Youth Activities

Speaking of kids, the park features a playground area conveniently situated near the pool. Beyond just play structures, the park hosts various youth programs, including activities run by the San Mateo Police Activities League (PAL) and drop-in basketball sessions for teens looking to shoot some hoops.

Memorial Grove

There's a quieter, more reflective side to this park as well. The memorial grove dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. provides a peaceful space for contemplation. Completed with community support and dedicated in 1993, this thoughtful area features trees circling a grassy glade, alongside a brick wall inscribed with the names of those who contributed to its creation.

Amenities and Access

You'll find clean restroom facilities throughout the park - always a practical necessity. One heads-up about visiting: while the park itself is easily accessible, the parking situation can be challenging. The lot is on the smaller side and fills up quickly, especially during events or when food vendors are present.

Note that you might need to park on surrounding streets during busy times. Just be aware that neighborhood roads tend to be narrow, so take it slow when driving through, particularly after dark.
