Situated on Forest Avenue in Santa Clara, Parkway Park spans a modest 3.5 acres of green space that feels like a little neighborhood retreat. This compact park packs in plenty of options whether you're looking to break a sweat or just enjoy some fresh air.

If you're into fitness, you'll appreciate the exercise course with various stations where you can get your heart pumping outdoors. A simple dirt trail loops around the perimeter - great for a casual stroll or for when you need to hit your step count for the day.

Families with little ones will gravitate toward the playground area, which is particularly well-suited for the younger crowd. Toddlers and small children can explore small slides, navigate climbing obstacles, bounce on bikes on springs, or dig in the sand pits. The multiple slides seem to be a particular hit with the kids who visit.

Chill and Grill

Planning a get-together? Several picnic tables are scattered around the grounds, making this a nice spot for a casual outdoor meal. There are even built-in grills available if you're in the mood for a barbecue. When nature calls, you won't have to pack up and leave - restroom facilities are on-site for convenience.

There's a water fountain available, but it occasionally has some maintenance issues. Beyond the designated areas, you'll find plenty of open, grassy space well-suited for letting your dog run around, setting up a game of cornhole, or simply sprawling out with a good book.

The Vibe

Despite being in an urban setting, Parkway Park offers a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere. Shaded areas beneath trees not only provide relief on sunny days but also help buffer noise from nearby traffic. Keep an eye out for the black squirrels that call the park home - they add a touch of wildlife to your visit.

One of the park's best features might be what it doesn't have: crowds. It tends to be quieter than other Santa Clara parks, especially if you visit in the morning hours. This gives it a somewhat secluded feel that many regulars appreciate.

Getting There

Reaching the park is straightforward with off-street parking available for those coming by car. There's also a pedestrian overpass connecting to the park that crosses San Tomas Expressway.

The park welcomes visitors from 5:00 AM to 10:30 PM most days, with slightly extended hours on Wednesdays (3:30 AM-11 PM) and Saturdays (5 AM-11 PM).
