About the Location
What You'll Find Here
Tucked away at 1150 Lime Drive in Sunnyvale, De Anza Park spans a generous 10.5 acres, offering a little something for everyone who stops by. Locals visit and enjoy this space throughout the year.
Play Areas for the Kids
The recently renovated playground is definitely a highlight here. With modern play structures designed for different age groups, it's thoughtfully laid out so both toddlers and older kids can have their fun. Our personal favorite? The zipline that never fails to draw excited squeals from children brave enough to take the ride.
On hot California days, you'll appreciate that some of the play equipment sits under partial shade - a small but thoughtful touch for parents watching their little ones.
Sports and Recreation
For sports enthusiasts, there are several options available. The park houses basketball courts for pickup games, two baseball fields where you can practice your swing, and a versatile multi-use field that transforms into a soccer field when school's out. Weekend warriors might notice local soccer leagues claiming some space on Saturdays and Sundays, but don't worry - there's still plenty of room for everyone else.
Looking for something different? Try your hand at the two horseshoe pits or challenge a friend to a match at the handball or racquetball court.
Gathering Spaces
There are two picnic sites with electrical outlets that come in handy for portable speakers or crockpots if you're planning a get-together. The larger site can host up to 140 people, while the smaller one comfortably fits about 70.
Both areas come equipped with tables and barbecue facilities, making them excellent for birthday parties, family reunions, or just casual weekend cookouts. The majestic redwood trees lining the park's edges not only create a beautiful backdrop but also offer welcome patches of shade.
Green Spaces to Enjoy
The well-maintained lawns here provide ample space to toss a frisbee, kick a ball around, or simply spread out a blanket for some cloud-watching. Walking paths wind through the grounds, giving you a chance to stretch your legs while taking in the scenery.
What's nice is how the park balances sunny open areas with shaded spots, so you can find your perfect place depending on the weather or your mood that day.
Practical Stuff You Should Know
You'll find clean restroom facilities on-site - always a plus when spending several hours outdoors. There's a small parking lot available, but it can fill up quickly on busy weekend afternoons. Not to worry though, as street parking is readily available nearby.
The park features ramps and accessible pathways, making it welcoming for everyone. And yes, it's dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your four-legged friend along - you'll likely meet plenty of other pup parents while you're there.
