Established in 1869, Plaza Park is Ventura's oldest city park. It covers one city block bounded by Santa Clara Street, Fir Street, Thompson Boulevard, and Chestnut Street in downtown Ventura.

The park's most notable feature is a massive Moreton Bay Fig Tree (Ficus macrophylla) planted in 1874. This impressive specimen stands over 73.5 feet tall, with a branch spread of 139 feet and a root spread of 87 feet.
This extraordinary tree is considered one of the largest of its kind in the nation and stands as a living landmark within the park. Visitors often remark on its age, as it's over 100 years old and remains a centerpiece attraction.
The grounds also feature a large grassy lawn area dotted with various trees, including tall palm trees, providing ample shade and open areas. Another remarkable feature is a unique sideways tree that draws attention from park visitors.
