Eva Dell Park
About Eva Dell Park
A Glimpse into History
Situated in the Old Town area of Victorville, Eva Dell Park is one of the city's oldest green spaces. While showing its age, this historic park has been earmarked as a priority for renovation in the city's recent Park and Recreation Master Plan - and for good reason.
Fresh Beginnings on the Horizon
There's good news for this beloved old space! In December 2021, Victorville secured a substantial $3.3 million grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation to breathe new life into Eva Dell Park. Thanks to the Proposition 68 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program, this funding will transform the park into a more inclusive space with expanded offerings.
Renovations were set to kick off in late 2022, with completion expected by the end of 2024. These improvements will address both aesthetics and functionality for the Old Town community.
What You'll Find Today
While waiting for its makeover, Eva Dell Park still offers plenty to enjoy. The softball fields are particularly well-maintained, with quality lighting that makes evening games possible - popular with local leagues.
If you're bringing little ones, the playground area features three slides and swings, with partial gating that helps keep toddlers from wandering off. On hot California days, you'll appreciate the shade trees scattered throughout the grounds, which even extend to some of the parking areas.
Need a spot for lunch? The picnic areas come equipped with tables that the park staff keeps surprisingly clean. When nature calls, restroom facilities are available on-site, but note they typically lock up around 7-8 PM unless baseball games are underway.
When to Visit
The morning to early afternoon (about 7 AM to 3 PM) tends to be the most family-friendly time at Eva Dell Park. While technically open 24 hours, evening activities mainly revolve around the softball fields, as other areas have limited lighting after sunset.
You might notice the park's maintenance varies throughout the day, as the entire Old Town neighborhood is currently undergoing gradual revitalization.
Dog owners, you're in luck! Your four-legged friends are welcome here, and many find it a pleasant spot for dog walking. Just remember to keep your pup leashed and be a responsible pet parent.
