About Danny Kendrick Park East
Construction in Progress
Next to Ralston Creek in the heart of Arvada, Colorado, Danny Kendrick Park East is currently in a state of transformation. If you've visited recently, you'll notice the playground is gone - it was removed in spring 2024 to make way for the city's sanitary sewer line replacement project. Yes, sometimes infrastructure needs trump playground needs, but good things are coming!
What's Coming Next
Don't worry - a brand new playground is in the works. The city plans to build it northwest of where the old one stood, with construction slated to begin in spring 2025. The silver lining? This new play space will incorporate ideas from local residents who participated in a community survey back in summer 2023.
ADRock-Climbing Adventure in Colorado's Front Range
For an exciting, adrenaline-pumping experience when you’re in Denver, head 30 minutes outside the city for a 3-hour rock-climbing adventure! Colorado's Front Range is home to unique rock formations that make for great climbing conditions, whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced climber.
Hit the Trail
Even during construction, the park functions as an access point to the Ralston Creek Trail that winds around its edges. Just note that there's currently a detour in place - visitors will need to head south along W. 70th Ave for a section of the trail. The creek itself adds a lovely natural element to your visit, but watch your step near the water as some areas have steep drop-offs.
What You Can Still Enjoy
While the playground is temporarily out of commission, there's still plenty of open space to enjoy. The park's large shade trees are particularly wonderful, offering cool morning shade that makes this spot meant for a peaceful morning read or a quick escape from the summer heat. The combination of open grassy areas and mature trees creates a refreshing green space that remains connected to Arvada's broader network of parks and trails.
