About the Location
Mountain Vistas That Live Up to the Name
Situated in Arvada, Colorado, Majestic View Park spans 80 acres of public land with a name that fits. The park features excellent panoramic views of the Front Range mountains. On clear days, you can take in sweeping views stretching all the way from Pikes Peak to Boulder.
If you're looking for that perfect golden hour shot, you'll appreciate the sunsets here, with the mountains silhouetted against vibrant skies - a view that attracts photographers and nature enthusiasts alike.
A Haven for Wildlife
Oberon Lake sits at the heart of the park, providing a peaceful resting area for local wildlife. Throughout the grounds, you'll notice marked protected zones (just look for the signs) that function as sanctuaries for the park's many inhabitants.
These protected areas create safe spaces for birds, reptiles, mammals, fish, and other creatures to thrive in their natural environment. During the year, you might spot various migratory species making pit stops to rest and refuel.
The park's squirrels are notably friendly (though remember not to feed them!), and bird watchers will appreciate the diversity of feathered visitors across seasons. When in bloom, the wildflower gardens transform into buzzing hubs of butterfly and pollinator activity.
Trails for Every Pace
With nearly 2 miles of trails winding throughout the property, there's plenty of ground to cover. Whether you prefer the smooth surface of paved paths or the natural feel of gravel under your feet, the park accommodates walkers, joggers, and cyclists alike.
A convenient 1/3 mile nature walk connects the main parking area to the Majestic View Nature Center. The good news for visitors with mobility challenges is that many of the trails are paved and accessible. While you'll hear some traffic noise from nearby roads (it is in a city, after all), the paths still offer a relatively peaceful experience surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Discover at the Nature Center
The Majestic View Nature Center stands as one of the park's highlights, offering fascinating exhibits about local wildlife and ecology. It's not just displays, either - the center runs various programs for all ages, from educational classes to interactive workshops and seasonal events.
The center balances education and entertainment, making it a good resource for learning about Colorado's natural environment and ongoing conservation efforts.
Get Your Game On
Sports enthusiasts will find plenty to love here. The park features four well-maintained tennis courts that regularly host local league matches.
Basketball players can enjoy a full court surrounded by shade trees - a blessing during those hot summer days. And if you're in the mood for something more laid-back, try your hand at the horseshoe pits for a bit of casual competition.
Family-Friendly Spaces
Kids will make a beeline for the modern treehouse-themed playground, which is especially well-suited for elementary-aged children and younger. Just a heads-up: on sunny days, some of the darker equipment surfaces can get pretty hot, so check before letting little ones climb aboard.
Around the park, you'll come across plenty of picnic tables - some bathed in sunshine, others nestled under the shade of mature trees. These spots make for perfect family gathering places, all with those beautiful mountain views representing your dining backdrop.
Good to Know
The park welcomes visitors daily from 5AM to 8PM. Keep in mind that alcohol and amplified music aren't allowed here.
Your furry friends are welcome but must stay leashed, and yes, you'll need to clean up after them. While exploring the natural areas, remember to respect the wildlife - no harassing, feeding, or attempting to catch any of the park residents.
Facilities
You'll find portable restrooms near the playground and upper parking lot that are kept clean and regularly maintained. If you're visiting the Nature Center during its open hours, additional restroom facilities are available inside.
