About the Location
Your Neighborhood Retreat
Located in Aurora, Colorado, the Park at Tallgrass spans 9.35 acres of community green space. Located near Quincy Avenue in the Trails Park and Recreation District, it offers a peaceful escape from the everyday hustle.
At its heart lies a sprawling open field that transforms with the seasons - a place for summer picnics and impromptu games that converts into a winter wonderland for sledding when Colorado's snow blankets the ground.
Take a Stroll
Need a quick breath of fresh air? The park's paved walking path creates a fantastic 0.34-mile loop for your daily dose of nature. If you're feeling more adventurous, this path connects to the Mesa Open Space Trail to the northwest, where you can extend your journey and explore beyond the park's boundaries.
Disc Golf for Everyone
The 9-hole disc golf course stands out as one of the park's highlights. Each hole is set as a par 3, with distances that vary from 169 to 356 feet, creating an interesting mix of challenges whether you're just starting out or have been flinging discs for years.
The course naturally integrates with the landscape, making each throw a unique experience. While the baskets are clearly marked, you should know that tee boxes can be a bit tricky to spot. Some holes will test your accuracy as you navigate around trees and natural obstacles - all part of the fun challenge.
Something for Everyone
Beyond disc golf, the park offers a basketball court where you can practice your jump shot or enjoy a pickup game with friends.
For the little ones, there's a playground specifically designed for children ages 2-12. It's not enormous, but it has the right equipment to keep younger kids entertained while you relax nearby.
Planning a get-together? The park's pavilion provides perfect shelter for family reunions, birthday celebrations, or simple afternoon picnics.
Getting Around
The park is thoughtfully designed to be handicap accessible, ensuring everyone can enjoy what Tallgrass has to offer. While you won't find parking directly at the disc golf course, there are plenty of spaces available across the park for those coming from across town.
