What's Available

Kids will gravitate toward the playground that strikes just the right balance between fun and safety. Little ones can swing to their heart's content on the swings, challenge themselves on the climb-on sculpture, or experience the thrill of the popular zip line - often the source of delighted squeals and repeated trips.

Hungry after all that play? The park offers picnic areas scattered throughout. You'll come across two tables on the east side and two more nestled within the main shelter on the west side - perfect spots for a family lunch or a casual meet-up with friends.

Covered Space

The centerpiece of Elks Park is its pavilion/shelter, a practical haven for gatherings small and large. With built-in electrical outlets and space for additional picnic tables beyond the two already there, it's a versatile spot for birthday parties or community get-togethers.

On scorching summer days, the pavilion offers welcome shade, and when Colorado's weather takes a turn, it provides shelter from unexpected rain or snow. Note that if you're planning an evening visit, the park gets pretty dark after sunset - lighting is minimal, so bring a flashlight if needed.

Natural Elements

In true Boulder fashion, Elks Park incorporates nature play elements, encouraging kids to interact with the natural world as they play. It's a subtle reminder of Boulder's commitment to keeping residents connected to the environment, even in the middle of the city.

Maintained by the City of Boulder, Elks Park is part of the city's extensive network of public green spaces. Like all Boulder parks, visitors are expected to follow the rules and Leave No Trace principles - basically, enjoy it but leave it as beautiful as you found it.

One of the park's charms is its generally quiet atmosphere. Besides the occasional cyclist passing through on the bike path, it remains a peaceful retreat - an excellent spot when you're looking to escape the busier, more crowded parks in the area.
