At 21 acres, Sunset Park offers a gorgeous overlook of Lakewood Gulch where you can catch some breathtaking sunsets over Denver. Tree-lined streets create a natural border around the park, and locals often consider it one of the area's quieter spots.

The park houses well-maintained tennis courts for those looking to work on their serve, plus a half-court basketball court with one hoop conveniently situated near the parking lot. Need more space? The expansive open field is ideal for everything from impromptu soccer games to flying kites, having a picnic, or simply stretching out on a blanket to watch the clouds roll by.

The covered shelter area comes equipped with three tables and a grill - ideal for birthday celebrations, family reunions, or just a weekend cookout with friends. Throughout the grounds, you'll find several shaded picnic tables where you can enjoy a packed lunch or catch up on some reading. Parents will appreciate the bench in the playground area that offers a spot to relax while keeping an eye on the kids.

Note that the park doesn't have permanent restrooms, but a seasonal port-a-let is available when you need it.

Recent Improvements

2024 brought some welcome upgrades to Sunset Park, focusing on making the space more inclusive and secure. The playground now features ADA-compliant engineered wood fiber as safety surfacing, along with a fully ADA-compliant access ramp ensuring everyone can enjoy what the park has to offer.

The renovation also included replacing two worn-out spring toys with fresh, updated versions, keeping the play environment both fun and safe for children.
