Park Overview

Sunset Park is a 21-acre urban park located in Denver, Colorado. The park offers a scenic overlook of Lakewood Gulch, providing visitors with an opportunity to enjoy beautiful sunsets and outdoor activities.

Recreation Facilities

The park features a variety of recreational facilities catering to different age groups and interests. A colorful playground area draws families with young children, offering a range of climbing equipment and slides. The play area includes both baby swings and regular swings, providing options for children of various ages.

For sports enthusiasts, Sunset Park includes tennis courts and a basketball court. The basketball area consists of a half-court with one hoop, conveniently located in the parking lot. The park also boasts a large open field, suitable for informal games or picnics.

Amenities

To enhance the park experience, Sunset Park provides a covered shelter area with three tables and a grill, making it an ideal spot for gatherings and cookouts. The park's layout includes a single bench in the playground area for parents to relax while supervising their children.

While the park offers many amenities, it's worth noting that there are no permanent bathroom facilities on-site, though a seasonal port-a-let is available for visitor convenience.

Recent Improvements

In 2024, Sunset Park underwent renovations to improve accessibility and safety. These upgrades included replacing the playground's safety surfacing with ADA-compliant engineered wood fiber and installing a fully ADA-compliant access ramp.

Additionally, two damaged spring toys were replaced with new, updated versions to ensure a safe play environment for children.
