About the Location
A Little Oasis in Mid-Town
Tucked away off a busy side street in Fort Collins, Landings Park offers 9.2 acres of green escape right in the heart of the city. This mid-town retreat strikes that perfect balance - accessible enough for a quick visit but peaceful enough to make you forget you're in the middle of urban Colorado.
Mornings here are especially serene, although you might catch the occasional hum of traffic in the background. It's one of those spots that locals know and love, without the overwhelming crowds of some of the city's larger parks.
What You'll Find
Landings Park has a bit of everything, whether you're looking to break a sweat or just lounge on the grass with a good book.
Kids can burn off energy at the playground area with equipment for various ages (though we'll be honest, some of the playground gear is showing its age). Hungry after all that play? Grab one of the picnic tables nearby - well-suited for impromptu lunches or small gatherings with friends.
You'll find restroom facilities just a short walk from the playground and picnic spots. Just note that these are closed during winter months (October through early April), along with the water fountains, so plan accordingly if you're visiting during the cooler seasons.
Get Your Game On
The park is great for sports enthusiasts. The soccer fields are well-maintained and host everything from organized league games to casual kickarounds.
Fancy a different kind of sport? The tennis courts are waiting for your best serve, while the half-court basketball court is great for a quick game of HORSE. The park has recently expanded its offerings with badminton and pickleball courts - the latter being particularly popular these days. There's also some outdoor exercise equipment scattered throughout, in case you want to squeeze in a workout without a gym membership.
The Layout
What we appreciate about Landings Park is how it mixes manicured spaces with more natural areas. You'll come across enough shade trees to escape the Colorado sun, plus wide open fields that practically beg for frisbee games or picnic blankets.
The playground area includes some sandy surfaces that kids seem to love (parents' washing machines, perhaps less so). The overall design feels thoughtful - not overly fancy, but functional and pleasant.
Good to Know
No need to circle the block looking for street parking - Landings Park offers ample parking for visitors. Dog owners, remember this is a strict leash-required park, so keep your four-legged friends tethered at all times.
You'll see all sorts of folks enjoying this space throughout the day: office workers on lunch breaks, parents with strollers, teens shooting hoops, and seniors taking their daily constitutional. It's a community space used by all kinds of people without feeling crowded or chaotic.
