About the Location
History
Formerly known as Sunrise Park, this green space was renamed to Charlie and Laura Archibeque Memorial Park in honor of former City Council member Charlie Archibeque and his wife Laura.
Playground Paradise
At the heart of the park sits a playground for children. Designed for little adventurers aged 2 to 12, this play area has all the classics - climbing walls for the nimble-fingered, rope obstacles for the daring, monkey bars for upper-body warriors, a good old-fashioned merry-go-round, and slides of various heights to suit both cautious climbers and thrill-seekers.
What really sets this playground apart are the musical panels including a guitar and steel drum notes where kids can channel their inner rock star or percussionist. The inclusion of accessible swings means that children of all abilities can join in the fun - a thoughtful touch that makes a big difference.
Beat the Heat
When Colorado summers bring the heat, the Sunrise Splash Park area becomes the place to be. Conveniently positioned near the playground, kids can easily bounce between monkey bars and water jets without missing a beat. The splash pad offers a fantastic cool-down spot on those scorching summer days.
Around the park, mature trees cast welcoming shadows, providing natural oases of coolness when you need a break from the sun.
Get Moving
Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the full basketball court where you can shoot some hoops or get a pickup game going. Open fields invite impromptu frisbee matches, catch sessions, or whatever lawn game you might have packed along.
The thoughtful layout makes this spot ideal for everything from quiet family picnics to livelier community gatherings. It's no wonder many consider it among Greeley's finest parks for children.
Grab a Bite
Hungry after all that play? Head to the large covered picnic area equipped with tables and benches - great for family meals or small celebrations. If you prefer more secluded dining, several scattered picnic spots around the park offer more intimate settings for outdoor meals.
Everyone Welcome
Accessibility isn't an afterthought at Charlie and Laura Archibeque Memorial Park. The thoughtful design includes features accommodating visitors of all abilities, from the accessible playground equipment to the overall layout that makes navigation straightforward.
Bring Fido Too
Your four-legged family members are welcome to join the fun, provided you clean up after them. The dog-friendly policy means the whole family - furry members included - can enjoy a day at the park together.
