About the Location
Park Overview
Nestled at the corner of 26th Street and 13th Avenue in Greeley, Colorado, Farr Park spans a modest 5.9 acres but packs in plenty of recreational options for the neighborhood. This local green space got a fresh makeover in 2024, breathing new life into this neighborhood park.
With its generous open spaces, the park provides an excellent backdrop for everything from impromptu frisbee games to lazy Sunday picnics. It's the kind of place where you can spread out a blanket, take a deep breath, and enjoy a little piece of nature right in the middle of the neighborhood.
Playground Adventures
If you've got kids in tow, Farr Park won't disappoint. The park has two distinct playground areas that cater to different age groups. The larger 2,900 square foot playground features a classic swing set, a concrete rock wall for budding climbers, and an impressive two-story spider web climbing structure with a 70-foot tube slide. Older kids can't seem to get enough of this challenge!
For the little ones, there's a dedicated 1,000-square-foot playground near the park shelter that's perfectly sized for toddlers, with age-appropriate equipment that keeps the smallest visitors safely entertained.
Just a heads-up: the playground areas don't have great lighting after sunset, so plan your play dates accordingly.
Sports Galore
Athletic types will appreciate the variety of sports facilities at Farr Park. The basketball court is ideal for pickup games, while the increasingly rare tennis court offers a place to practice your serve. Pickleball enthusiasts will be happy to find a dedicated pickleball court - a nod to the sport's growing popularity.
Rounding out the athletic offerings is a baseball field complete with a backstop and volleyball nets for those summer evening games. The park's facilities offer a casual, accessible space for staying active.
Comfort and Convenience
When it's time to take a break, head over to the gazebo with picnic tables or the shelter with restroom facilities. These shaded spots provide relief on hot days and space for small gatherings. The multiple picnic tables make it easy to spread out lunch or set up for a birthday celebration.
The designers thoughtfully included a 2-foot wide perimeter curb around the playgrounds that sits flush with adjacent walkways and grass, creating a seamless flow around the park space.
A practical note: there's a private water line running beneath the larger playground that connects the restrooms to the water tap on 26th Street - not something you'd notice during your visit, but part of what keeps the park's facilities functioning smoothly.
Natural Charm
Add a touch of wildlife to your visit by watching (or feeding) the friendly squirrels that call the park home. Many visitors enjoy sharing a bit of their lunch with these furry residents. The surrounding neighborhood adds to the park's welcoming vibe, with locals often described as friendly and approachable - just another reason why Farr Park feels like an extension of home for many in the community.
