About the Location
A Piece of Baseball History
Established in 1934, Runyon Field Sports Complex is Pueblo's oldest ballpark and has been central to youth and amateur baseball in the region for generations.
The complex honors Damon Runyon, a Pueblo native who went from local reporter at the Pueblo Chieftain in 1910 to becoming one of New York's most celebrated sportswriters and short story authors. His legacy lives on in this beloved community space.
Fields of Dreams
Spread across 14.3 acres, the complex offers multiple diamonds for players of all ages and abilities.
The crown jewel is Hobbs Field, named after Damon Runyon's former Pueblo Chieftain colleague, Oneal Hobbs. Renovated in 1995, it features covered bleachers that protect fans from both the elements and fly balls, with convenient restrooms tucked underneath the seating area.
The complex also includes Corsentino, Salas, DiIorio, and Andenucio fields, each tailored to different age groups. The playing surfaces are well-maintained, with carefully tended grass and groomed dirt tracks.
Far From Just Baseball
When hunger strikes, head to the full-service concession stand where you can grab a variety of snacks and meals. The chili wrap has quite the local following! Adults can enjoy cold beverages from the bar area while watching the action unfold.
Clean restrooms are available throughout the complex, including at the concession building (opposite the ordering window) and beneath the Hobbs Field bleachers. Accessibility is a priority with handicap-friendly facilities available.
Got restless little ones? Two playgrounds dot the complex - one by the main entrance and another designed for younger siblings to burn energy while their older brothers and sisters compete. When you need a break from the sun, seek out the shaded areas with benches and picnic tables well-suited for relaxing between games.
Community Tradition
The complex buzzes with tournaments year-round, including the signature Father's Day "Nuch" tournament - named for Anthony Andenucio, a passionate local baseball advocate. This prestigious event draws talented teams from across the nation.
Runyon Field remains the go-to facility for high school and youth baseball and softball throughout southeastern Colorado. Thanks to Pueblo's favorable climate, the playing season here stretches longer than in other parts of the state, making it a natural choice for regional tournaments.
You'll often see generations of families cheering together, creating memories that last long after the games end.
