Found in the heart of Thornton, Colorado, Civic Center Park is the community's green gathering hub. Positioned conveniently near the municipal buildings, this public space offers a refreshing escape from the urban landscape.

You might notice some confusion on maps where it's labeled as Croke Lake, but don't be misled - the official signs clearly mark this spot as Civic Center Lake and Park.

Get Outside and Play

The park has generous grassy areas great for spreading out a picnic blanket or tossing a frisbee around. At its center, a picturesque lake creates a focal point for the park and provides a popular spot for fishing enthusiasts.

If you're an angler, you'll appreciate the variety of fish here - crappie, catfish, and bass all call these waters home. It's especially nice for families teaching kids to fish, however fair warning: by June, the lake tends to get pretty weedy, which can make fishing a bit more challenging.

Need to stretch your legs? Well-maintained paths meander within the grounds, offering pleasant routes for a quick morning jog or a leisurely after-dinner stroll. The wide sidewalks accommodate both serious runners and casual walkers alike.

Take a Break

One of the park's highlights is its covered group picnic area, complete with eight tables and lovely views overlooking the lake. It's an ideal spot to enjoy your lunch break or gather the family for a weekend meal outdoors.

While the atmosphere is generally peaceful, it's worth noting that the nearby highway does create some background noise - though many visitors find it fades into the background after a while.
