Located in downtown Clearwater, Florida sits Coachman Park - a 19-acre waterfront space that recently underwent a major renovation. After an $84 million renovation completed in 2023, this park has transformed from a simple green space into a modern recreational area. As you wander through, you'll be treated to gorgeous views of Clearwater Harbor, the Memorial Causeway Bridge, and the Intracoastal Waterway that might just make you pause mid-step to take it all in.

The Sound: Music With a View

The main attraction of Coachman Park is The Sound, a 4,000-seat covered amphitheater that can accommodate an additional 5,000 people on its sprawling lawn. What enhances concerts here is the view - you can watch performances with Clearwater Harbor as the backdrop.

The acoustics are good, and large video screens flank the stage so you can see the performance even from the back. We appreciate the practical touches too - the lawn uses field turf, which means you can sit comfortably without worrying about mud if there's been rain. When hunger strikes during events, you'll discover food trucks and beverage stations offering plenty of options to keep you fueled.

We're impressed by how the architects worked with the natural topography - multiple layers of walkways take advantage of the land's natural slope away from the water, making the park resilient during Florida's sometimes temperamental weather. Coachman Park beautifully bridges downtown Clearwater with the waterfront, creating easy pedestrian access to nearby attractions and restaurants. Beyond concerts, the park hosts a variety of community gatherings - from farmer's markets and free yoga classes to seasonal celebrations that bring locals and visitors together.

A particularly handy feature is access to the Clearwater Ferry, offering a stress-free way to reach Clearwater Beach without dealing with traffic.
