About the Location
A Green Oasis in the City
Sprawling across 62 acres, Mullins Park is Coral Springs' largest community park. This green space has options for everyone, whether you're looking to break a sweat or just enjoy some fresh air. The grounds are kept in tip-top shape, and with lighting that stays on until closing, you can feel secure even during evening visits.
For the Sports Enthusiasts
If you're into team sports, there are plenty of options here. The park has eight different field spaces, including soccer, baseball, and football fields. Three of these fields feature artificial grass surfaces - a nice touch that keeps them usable even after Florida's infamous afternoon showers.
The football field comes complete with bleachers for when you're cheering on the local teams. Baseball fields have seating too, though you might want to bring your own chair depending on which field you're watching - some spots are better equipped than others.
Beyond the fields, you'll come across basketball courts, tennis courts, and even a sand volleyball court if you're feeling beachy. There's a concession stand that opens during games and events, but remember to bring cash - they don't accept cards.
Take a Dip
When the Florida heat cranks up, the Cypress Pool offers sweet relief. This 25-yard swimming pool features two diving boards and a gentle beach-entry shallow area ideal for little ones. The pool area is clean and well-maintained, which is especially appreciated during those sweltering summer months. They also offer swimming lessons and aqua fitness classes if you're looking to improve your technique or get a low-impact workout.
Family Fun Zones
Kids need to burn off energy? The recently renovated playground areas provide a safe space for children (especially those between 1-10 years old) to climb, slide, and play to their heart's content.
Planning a gathering? The park's picnic pavilions and shelters make for perfect outdoor party spots. The east side features a dedicated picnic area complete with a grill and benches. Some shelters even offer power outlets - a thoughtful addition when your phone battery is running low after taking too many photos of the kids playing.
Stay Active, Stay Healthy
Early risers might spot locals getting their exercise in on the walking and jogging trails that meander through the park. There's something special about skating here at sunrise, as the park begins to stir with the day's first visitors.
The generous green spaces leave plenty of room for impromptu frisbee games, picnic blankets, or just stretching out with a good book. And don't worry about staying hydrated - water fountains are scattered across the grounds.
The Practical Stuff
The parking situation is generally good, with plenty of spaces including handicap-accessible options, however you might need to circle around during tournaments or special events.
You'll find clean restrooms throughout the park - the ones by the basketball courts are particularly well-maintained. Most are air-conditioned too, offering a welcome escape from the heat when you need it.
Community Spirit
During the year, Mullins Park hosts community celebrations, including an Independence Day event with fireworks. The park also offers inclusive recreational programs, including activities for those with special needs, such as challenger baseball.
