Natural Design Features
Biscayne Shores Park is a 6.16-acre public park located in Miami, Florida. The park offers a blend of recreational facilities and natural elements, providing a space for community members to enjoy outdoor activities and connect with nature.
One of the park's notable features is its nature-based playground, which was one of the first of its kind in Miami-Dade County. The playground is centered around a 5-foot earth mound that incorporates boulder climbing areas made from local Miami oolite stone. An embankment slide is also integrated into this natural play structure, offering children an engaging and unique play experience.
Landscaping and Shade
The park's design emphasizes native flora, with extensive landscaping throughout the site. Several large specimen live oaks and gumbo limbo trees were added to create a forested atmosphere, providing shade and enhancing the park's connection to nature.
This thoughtful landscaping not only beautifies the space but also helps to create a cooler, more comfortable environment for visitors.
Facilities and Community Space
In addition to the playground, Biscayne Shores Park features a picnic shelter, allowing families and groups to gather for outdoor meals and social events.
The park also includes a 3,013 square foot recreation center that hosts various community programs, including arts and crafts activities, after-school programs, and camps.
