A Piece of Miami Beach History

Colins Park traces its roots back to the 1920s, when it was part of John Collins' grand vision for Miami Beach. The 5.7-acre green space between 21st and 22nd Streets has been a cultural heartbeat for the surrounding neighborhood ever since, blending history with contemporary vibes.

Under the Shade of Centuries

When Miami's sun gets serious, Collins Park offers a refreshing retreat. The grounds are dotted with mature trees that cast generous shadows across the pathways. Among these leafy giants are remarkable baobab trees and some impressive specimens believed to be over 400 years old - basically tree elders who've seen it all. The landscape strikes a nice balance between native Florida plants and decorative varieties.

The well-maintained lawns are excellent for spreading out a picnic blanket or enjoying a good book. It's one of those rare urban spaces where the grounds actually stay clean and well-kept year-round.

Where Art Meets Outdoors

The park borders several significant artistic institutions. On its eastern edge sits the Bass Museum of Art, showcasing contemporary works. Right nearby, you can find the Miami City Ballet and the Miami Beach Regional Library - creating a concentrated area of cultural institutions.

Art isn't confined to indoor spaces here. The park itself hosts various sculptures and installations that rotate periodically. The rainbow rock sculpture near the entrance has become something of an Instagram darling. During Art Basel and other cultural festivities, the park transforms with special exhibitions that bring even more creative energy to the space.

Small Park, Big Possibilities

Despite its modest size, Collins Park provides several options for physical activity. There's a compact outdoor gym area equipped with basics for bodyweight exercises. Dog owners frequently stroll through with their furry friends (just remember to keep them leashed).

Looking for a community workout? Free yoga classes happen Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6pm - an excellent way to unwind after work. And with the beach just a block away, you can easily combine park relaxation with ocean adventures.

The Community Living Room

The park hosts various community events, from jazz concerts to cultural festivals, regularly functioning as an outdoor venue for public gatherings. On any given day, you might spot locals walking dogs, tourists taking a breather, or friends sharing a casual picnic.

The park also steps up for bigger occasions like Miami Swim Week and Art Basel exhibitions. Its central location, proximity to the beach, and available parking add to its convenience.
