MacFarlane Park is a 24.7-acre public park located in the West Tampa district of Tampa, Florida. The park was established in 1908 when Hugh Macfarlane, a prominent figure in West Tampa's development, donated 40 acres of land for its creation.
The park holds historical significance for the West Tampa community. It has been designated as a historic site by the Tampa Historical Preservation Commission, recognizing its role in the area's development and community life since the early 20th century.
Trails and Natural Beauty
The park features a 1.2-mile asphalt trail that loops around its perimeter, providing a popular route for walkers, joggers, and seniors from the nearby David Barksdale Senior Citizen Center. The trail is five feet wide and meanders through the park's landscape, offering visitors a pleasant outdoor exercise option.
MacFarlane Park is known for its scenic beauty, with lush greenery and mature trees, including Spanish moss-covered oaks and magnolias, creating a tranquil atmosphere. The park's layout includes open grassy areas suitable for picnics and casual recreation.
