About the Location
Waterfront Gem
Right next to the Intracoastal Waterway in downtown West Palm Beach, Flagler Park is a breath of fresh air in the urban landscape. This 5-acre green space provides water views and a look at Palm Beach Island just across the way. It's where city meets coast - a nice spot to relax while still being downtown.
A Piece of History
Before it became the Flagler Park we know today, this patch of green was simply called City Park. Dating back to West Palm Beach's earliest days in the late 19th century, it's practically a founding father of public spaces in the area. The park now bears the name of Henry Flagler, the railroad magnate who developed much of Florida's east coast.
What You'll Find
The park features simple, open grassy areas ideal for picnics or throwing a frisbee. Paved paths meander throughout, great for a leisurely stroll or morning jog with a waterfront backdrop.
You'll come across benches scattered in just the right spots for people-watching, boat-gazing, or simply sitting with your thoughts as watercraft zoom by on the Intracoastal. And yes, dog parents - they've thought of you too with pet waste stations available.

Holiday Magic
Winter brings a whole new dimension to Flagler Park. The star of the show is definitely Sandi, a one-of-a-kind Christmas tree sculpted entirely from sand that has become something of a local celebrity. Alongside Sandi, other impressive sand sculptures pop up, creating a unique holiday experience that's distinctly Floridian.
The evening light shows add an extra touch of magic to the season, drawing crowds of families - many making it an annual tradition to visit these sandy holiday wonders.
Community Central
The park's downtown location makes it convenient to visit, whether for an afternoon in the sun or a quiet evening by the water.
Just steps away lies Clematis Street with its collection of shops and eateries - making it easy to combine park time with urban exploration. And if you're looking to venture further without moving your car, hop on the free trolley that stops nearby.
Beyond the Basics
While relaxing with those waterfront views might be enough for many, the park offers more active options too. Kids gravitate toward the sandy playground area, while adventure-seekers can use the park as a jumping-off point for a walk across the bridge to Palm Beach Island.
Flagler Park may not boast elaborate facilities or flashy features, but that's part of its charm. What it offers instead is something increasingly precious - open space, natural beauty, and a moment of peace right in the middle of city life.
