A River Runs Through It

Right next to the Chattahoochee River in Columbus, Georgia, Woodruff Riverfront Park offers a peaceful 6.9-acre escape from city life without actually leaving the city. From here, you can enjoy views of the flowing river, with Alabama visible from the opposite shore. The sunsets over the water here can be quite beautiful.

Cool Off & Play

When Georgia heat hits hard, the park's free splash pad becomes everyone's best friend. Running typically from spring until early fall, it's where kids (and let's be honest, some adults too) come to cool down and have a blast splashing around.

Right beside the splash pad is a modern playground with nice features. Think colorful climbing structures, slides that bring out the giggles, and a four-seater seesaw that's ideal for making new friends. Parents will appreciate the rubber flooring instead of mulch - fewer wood chips in shoes is always a win. There's even a unique musical area where little ones can channel their inner drummer with various percussion instruments.

The park includes green spaces and walking paths that connect to the broader Riverwalk trail system running through Columbus.

Get Moving

Woodruff is a good starting point for various activities. The Riverwalk path works well for morning jogs, casual strolls, or bike rides along the river.

For thrill-seekers, nearby zipline courses let you fly over the Chattahoochee, and whitewater rafting opportunities await those ready to get wet. Just note that these adventures aren't part of the free park experience - they'll cost extra, but many find them worth every penny.

Four-legged family members are more than welcome within the park (except in the splash pad area, for obvious reasons). Just keep them leashed while they sniff out new adventures alongside you.

Community Heart

The park hosts various community events throughout the year. From food truck festivals and live music to spectacular Fourth of July fireworks, Woodruff is a popular outdoor gathering space in Columbus.

The open grassy areas are good for picnics, frisbee games, or relaxing and watching the clouds. Its central location makes it easy to include in your Columbus explorations, whether you're a local or just passing through.

Fuel Up Nearby

If you get hungry, the Banks Food Hall is just across the street with various eateries.

Public restrooms are available in the park area, however they can get busy during peak times - a small price to pay for such a popular spot. The park's location near other downtown attractions makes it convenient for exploring Columbus.
